WHAT IS IT? Edina Girl Scouts of all ages can design and create a car to race at the Pinewood Derby - Girl Scout Style. The race takes place typically on a 4-lane track with a computerized timing system that shows instant results and gathers all statistics. In addition to the top 8 speed finishers, awards are presented for special design categories (Girl Scout Car, Fastest Looking, Coolest Shape, Best Paint Job, Most Bling/Shiniest/Prettiest & Most Simplistic).


COST: $10.00 / GIRL SCOUT. The cost covers the car kit, fun patch, facility and equipment rentals, and awards.

WHEN: FRIDAY, JANUARY 14th, and SATURDAY, JANUARY 15th, 2022

WHERE: CALVARY LUTHERAN CHURCH, 6817 ANTRIM RD, EDINA, MN 55439

Car Drop Off: January 14th from 5:30 - 7:30 pm (To participate in the race, all cars must follow the Pinewood Derby Rules listed in the attached pdf). They must be dropped off on Friday night to be checked-in, weighed, numbered, and photographed to race on Saturday.

COVID Guideline Note: In compliance with the Calvary Lutheran Church and the Girl Scout River Valleys COVID Guidelines, we are asking individuals regardless of vaccination status to please wear a mask when dropping off your cars (since you will need to enter the building).

Virtual Race Day: Saturday, January 15th. Race starts at 3:00 pm. Live-stream link to be sent out before the race and a video will be posted afterwards on YouTube. Please provide an email when you register where you can be reached on race day.

Design Voting Categories: In addition to receiving the live-stream link prior to the event, we will send out a google doc and ask each girl scout to vote for each of their favorite cars in the Design Categories. Voting closes at the end of the final race. You should know the results shortly thereafter.

IMPORTANT NOTES:

• Registration closes on Friday, January 7th, 2022

• Car Numbering: Please do not number your car. We will assign your car a racing number and add the stickers to the top of your car Friday night at check-in.

• All cars must be checked-in on Friday night between 5:30-7:30 pm

• The race on Saturday will be live-streamed and can be viewed later on YouTube

• All cars racing must be created this year


Once you have registered and paid for the event, you will receive an email from us where you can pick up your car-kit.
