posted Jan 2, 2013, 12:20 PM by Leslie Iyer

On Thursday, January 17 River Valleys will celebrate the first annual Girl Scout Spirit Day.

Show Your Girl Scout Pride

To participate, girls are asked to wear their Girl Scout uniform, pins and related items to school. Girls should also help spread the word about the fun and friendship of Girl Scouts by talking with friends and handing out the flyer found here:  www.girlscoutsrv.org/2012/12/21/girl-scout-spirit-day/

Troop Incentive

All participating girls are eligible to win special VIP seating for their troop at the May 4 Cookie Concert!

To enter:

1.    Take a photo on January 17 dressed up in your Girl Scout attire

2.    Email your photo to Laura Sartain (laura.sartain@girlscoutsrv.org) by January 30, 2013.

3.    Write “Spirit Day” in the subject line and include your troop number and troop leader’s name and contact information in the body of the email.

Four winners will be selected and notified by email the week of February 11. Winners will also be featured on the River Valleys Facebook page. Keep in mind that to attend the cookie concert, your troop must first purchase the Party in a Bag for the National Cookie Sleepover.

Let’s get creative and have some fun with this. Show your Girl Scout Pride and Spirit! Try a little face paint, green ribbons or homemade t-shirts. We can’t wait to see all the fun photos!  Have fun and good luck to all!

Edina Winter Neighborhood Night Out

posted Oct 21, 2012, 3:47 PM by Leslie Iyer

The City of Edina is looking for troops to help with the Winter Neighborhood Night Out

The Winter Neighborhood night out for 2013 will be at 4 different parks: Walnut ridge, Pamela, Normandale and Weber Parks.

Would any troops be interested in volunteering that night? Duties may include: start the fires for the fire pits, handing out hot chocolate, collecting food for VEAP and bringing it to VEAP, or just to come and skate around (once a few kids are on the ice, more will come).

You could pick one or more parks.

Service Unit Cookie Manager Needed - Board Position

posted Sep 21, 2012, 8:28 AM by Leslie Iyer

The Edina Service Unit needs you! Now is a GREAT time to step on board.

Girls Scouts of River Valleys is offering a
Service Unit Cookie Manager Retreat on November 3: this is a fun-filled, fact-filled day that includes breakout sessions, group sessions, networking, breakfast and lunch, and door prizes. Each attendee will also be receiving a special gift bag as a thank you for giving their time to attend the retreat. The gift bag will include personalized Girl Scout Volunteer business cards for those who register by October 5. More information about the retreat can be found by clicking HERE.

The Cookie Program is serious business. Collectively, Edina troops earned almost $40,000.00 from cookie sales in 2012.   Yes, $40,000 went right back into our Edina Girl Scout community. In addition, Edina raised almost $250,000 through cookie sales to support all girl scouts in MN/WI River Valleys. Edina's service unit cookie managers, on average, manage $500,000 in inventory, 800+ girls and 100 adult volunteers in just six weeks.
