Wanted - Adult and Girl Delegates to represent Edina

posted Dec 13, 2011, 12:58 PM by linda.lutgen@girlscoutsedina.org
Edina Girl Scouts are looking for any combination (with at least 2 adults) and 8 girls to be delegates representing Edina.   All 10 members will have a vote.   There is also space for 5 alternates.

It is important that we have active delegates from throughout our jurisdiction to ensure that the voice of our membership is represented for all girls and volunteers.

Complete your Delegate Information Sheet as soon as possible (all elected 2012 girl and adult delegates)   http://www.girlscoutsrv.org/_asset/35q4re/Delegate-Information-Sheet-2012.pdf   send it to serviceunitmgr@girlscoutsedina.org

Last year was an amazing year to be part of.   I have to admit I have not seen Robert's  Rules of Order used so extensively.

The annual meeting is
Saturday, January 21, 2012
Dakota Hills Middle School: 4183 Braddock Trail, Eagan, MN

The annual meeting will include:
Girl and Adult Summits
100th Preview
Business Meeting

However, even if the annual meeting is not something that you can attend, consider the delegate kick off which is in Edina on January 3

Please contact me at serviceunitmgr@girlscoutsedina.org if you have questions.

Delegate Dialogues

Over 100 adult, girl and National delegates participated in the October delegate dialogues. We appreciate you input concerning the national proposals and River Valleys' proposed bylaw changes.

Review the consolidated bylaws inputs the delegates received during the October dialogues. As the Bylaws Task Group prepares recommendations for the Board of Directors, they request any additional feedback and input be sent to delegates@girlscoutsrv.org

For more information, please contact 800-845-0787 or e-maildelegates@girlscoutsrv.org.

The 2012 delegate dialogue schedule will be posted here after the current delegate survey data is processed.

Council delegates

Welcome River Valleys Delegates!

Welcome to River Valleys’ newly elected council delegates. Your involvement represents a collective voice to the members of the Board and to staff, and provides input into council decision making.

Training

River Valleys requires all delegates complete training before performing their duties at the Annual Meeting.

  • Delegate training taken for the 2008, 2009, 2010 or 2011 Annual Meetings completes the training requirement

Parliamentary Procedure

Familiarity with basic rules of parliamentary procedure will allow you to more readily follow the action during business portions of River Valleys’ Annual Meeting. Visit River Valleys’ Parliamentary Procedure page for helpful hints and videos showing Robert’s Rules of Order in action!

Girl Delegates

New this year! River Valleys is offering training designed specifically for girl delegates. All girl delegates are encouraged to attend the River Valleys Girl Delegate Kick-Off and Training event on Saturday, January 7, 2012 from 9am to noon at Transfiguration Lutheran Church in Bloomington, MN.

Girls may still choose to complete the 2011-2012 Delegate/Alternate Delegate Self-Study to fulfill their training requirement, but are encouraged to attend this specially designed event to experience the work of a River Valleys delegate by bringing the role to life!
